GEOMETRIC STANDARD DEVIATION (GSD)

Although total dose of medication is a primary variable in the performance measurement of any nebulizer, MDI, or Spacer, of equal consideration is how much medication inhaled by the patient is actually deposited in the lungs. The distribution of aerosol particle size, or Geometric Standard Deviation (GSD), is a principal tool in evaluating in-vitro, what amount of drug a patient inhales might actually be deposited in the lung.

Piper Medical's laboratory is set up to measure GSD for all types of aerosol delivery devices. In addition, we can handle any variations or special considerations that you may require for your project.

Piper Medical's decades of experience in the field of aerosol testing, along with our state of the art aerosol lab, make us uniquely capable of providing your every aerosol testing need. If aerosol testing is part of a strategy for obtaining FDA approval for your aerosol product, Piper Medical's extensive expereience with the FDA will make your job easy.
